Multilayer Colorful Salad Recipe

Ingredients

  • Base Layer:
  • 2 cups of chopped Romaine lettuce or mixed greens
  • Vegetable Layers:
  • 1 cup of cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1 cup of cucumber, sliced
  • 1 cup of shredded carrots
  • 1/2 cup of sweet corn (canned or cooked)
  • 1/2 cup of red bell pepper, diced
  • 1/4 cup of red onion, finely chopped
  • Protein Layer:
  • 1 cup of cooked chicken breast (shredded or diced)
  • 1/2 cup of boiled eggs, chopped (optional)
  • 1/2 cup of cooked chickpeas or black beans (for a vegetarian option)
  • Cheese & Crunch Layer:
  • 1/2 cup of shredded cheddar cheese (or your favorite cheese)
  • 1/4 cup of crumbled feta or blue cheese (optional)
  • 1/4 cup of crushed tortilla chips, croutons, or seeds for crunch
  • Dressing Layer:
  • 1/2 cup of ranch dressing, Greek yogurt dressing, or your favorite dressing
  • Fresh herbs (like parsley or cilantro) for garnish

Instructions

  1. Layer the Salad: In a large glass bowl, start by adding the lettuce or greens as the base layer. Then, begin layering the ingredients in the order listed above (vegetables, proteins, cheese, and crunch). Each layer should be spread evenly for the best presentation.
  2. Add the Dressing: Once you’ve layered all the ingredients, either drizzle the dressing on top or serve it on the side to keep the salad crisp.
  3. Serve or Chill: You can serve the salad immediately, or for a better presentation, cover it and refrigerate for an hour to let the flavors meld together.
  4. Toss Before Serving: Just before serving, toss the salad gently to mix all the layers together, or serve it as is to keep the layers intact.
